As a sound tinkerer, I’m permanently searching for perfect sound. As a student I worked in a specialist shop for musical instruments, with backstage access to premium products, and a close exchange with musicians and manufacturers. At weekends I’d be touring with my bands, or in our studio in the drum room: height adjustable ceilings, specialized noise absorbing panels, twenty ambient and specialized drum microphones. With ‘SubKick‘ I have created a microphone that captures the typical dynamic range and the very low frequencies of the bass drum.

A breakthrough begun by The Beatles.
Subkick was introduced in 1966 when recording the kick drums for The Beatles‘ song ‘Rain’. Thanks to its diameter, the microphone captures extremely low frequencies down to 50 Hz: perfect for mastering a balanced low end.
