About me

Daniel Heilig
Daniel Heilig

“Design is within me.”

Daniel Heilig. A young Hungarian-German designer, charismatic artist and creative Cosmopolitan. Born in Budapest, he has half of Europe in his genes. Childhood days in rural Hungary were marked by Soviets and poverty. Before growing up in renewed, modern Germany, to begin again from nothing, a foreigner without a nest. Heilig’s life’s journey, a constant change of worlds. The quest for authenticity, identity and balance forever shape this virtuoso’s work.

"I'm not interested in what design is allowed to do."

For the doubter and perfectionist, principles and expectations are bad. They hinder, torment and harass the designer. Focusing on one thing or doing something twice is to find himself bored. Daniel Heigel is driven to move forward. To discover new things intuitively, interdisciplinarily, experimentally. Finding redemption and inspiration in the infinite beauty of the moment.

“My objects are, above all, a feeling.”

The designer’s thinking, ideas, and creative impulse are without bounds. Everything fertilizes the other. Photography, music, fashion, furniture design. His creative plurality unites the pursuit of beauty in a philosophical sense. From this insatiable longing, Daniel Heilig creates uniquely exquisite, time-honored functional art, designs in which beauty may express itself fully.

Designs that tell authentic stories.

This collection is art, opulent, practical art. Heilig’s artistic concept is to connect the past and the almost forgotten with the rediscovered and contemporary. In his works the designer redefines ubiquitous soulless perfection.

Designing divas and dandies in the room.

Tried, tested, true materials; their inherently unique beauty concealed within. The artist seeks, sees, discovers and celebrates them. Sensitively joining structures together to create sensuously designed singular objects. Heilig’s exquisitely individual pieces are divas and dandies in the room. Excitingly extravagant, soulful and assured.

Spectacular, honest and unbelievably luxurious.

Heilig’s style is elegant, exacting, free spirited. His language of design, reduced but bold. The processing quality incredibly luxurious. Conceptually, color is dictated by those naturally inherent in the original material. Satisfying, fascinating, mysterious nuances, night brown, coal black, smoke gray. Fire, earth, water, air. Human traces, material structures, wild, washed-out, weathered, well-loved. Daniel Heilig’s unique designs are made by hand in Germany, delightful to behold, touch and own. Available exclusively from the artist.

About Monuments collection

Daniel Heilig

MONUMENTS stands for a refreshingly non-conformist body of work with exceptional conceptual reference and significant furniture creations that are palpably inspired by intercultural architectural epochs and craftsmanship. Daniel Heilig boldly transfers stylistic elements, building details and volumes from representative, monumental, sacred or contemporary architecture, and historical craftsmanship into modern furniture sculptures. The PAGODE NAGURI stool, for example, refers formally to pagoda architecture, while its wooden pattern quotes the ancient Japanese art of Naguri. The window cross in the Church of Light by Tadao Ando flows into the OHUS seating furniture, which is radically reduced to a steel cross and wooden board. The minimalist wooden body of the PONTI side table translates the historic Porta Nolana city gate in Naples. The revolutionary stool HAPPENS is inspired by chance and plays formally with the concept of the tilted twin towers Puerta de Europa in Madrid.

Daniel Heilig is fascinated by traditional wood craftsmanship. With MONUMENTS, he integrates the art of coopers, boat builders or carpenters. The furniture is exquisitely handcrafted by the designer in his own studio in Germany.
